Rick and Steve Payne's long awaited joint CD 'The Dartmouth
Sessions' was released in Dartmouth on the 17th October 2014.
This purely acoustic set features 14 original tracks by Rick and Steve
and was produced and recorded in Dartmouth by Guy Rigby during August 2014.
The album captures perfectly the essence of the 60's Blues/Folk boom -
the sound mirroring the likes of pioneers Bert Jansch, John Renbourne
and Davey Graham.
‘Rick and I have been
playing together on and off for over 20 years. A strange but unique
musical communication between us means we have never rehearsed together
but it always somehow seems to work. this album was no exception no
rehearsals in the build up to recording it, we just let the thing run
and this is the outcome - a very organic and spontaneous feel to the
tracks. Some written as we went along. Nice one!

‘Steve and I have
played together many times over the years and never really rehearsed or
recorded. We tend to play on the edge which has always kept the creative
juices flowing. It can make the hairs stick up on the back of your neck
- red light on just play. People still think we’re brothers, we’re not,
but I guess in music we really are. We've been coming down to Dartmouth on and
off for the past twenty five years. It’s like a second home to us both -
the folks here welcomed us and took us in - and still do’
