Life is a journey. Whilst each one is different, many paths cross and influence others, even when separated by time. This album is inspired by two journeys, one relating to a magnificent Norman building in Wells, the other, Rick's explorations of musical styles. The building, a church, is dedicated to Saint Cuthbert, an Anglo-Saxon saint. It fills the view from Rick’s studio. It’s a bygone, the largest in Somerset and a star of Hot Fuzz! It is linked to a historic journey, now marked as a long-distance path crossing Northumberland, St Cuthbert’s Way.

The titles of the tracks on the album reflect the aspects of St Cuthbert’s travels and Rick’s own journey through music, which has brought him to Wells. A small, quiet city with a very large church (as well as a beautiful Cathedral), that is rich in musical heritage. This music has many influences, from the Celtic guitar tuning used throughout, to folk jigs and reels, hints of rock, blues, slide guitar and even baroque elements. It is a beautiful journey illuminated by enchanting finger-style guitar melodies and arpeggios, most accompanied by a talented string quartet, recorded at the unique Real World Studios near Bath.

Enjoy the Journey!
